Trade Test
The Trade Test is qualifying in nature. It assesses the candidate’s capability to transmit and receive messages through reading and dictation in Hindi and English. Candidates with more than 50% mistakes in either Hindi or English dictation are disqualified.
Test of Proficiency in Computer Operation
This test is qualifying in nature. All candidates who qualify the Trade Test are required to appear for this. It includes:
- Test of English word processing speed-1000 key depressions in 15 minutes
- Test of Basic Computer Functions (Opening/Closing of PC, Printing, MS office usage, saving & modification in typed text, paragraph setting & numbering etc).
English Word Processing Speed Test Details:
- Duration: 15 Minutes
- Candidates are given a printed passage in English (200 words) to enter in MS Word.
- Evaluation Criteria: Total Strokes/5, Total words/time of Test, Mistakes (omission, substitution, addition of punctuation marks, wrong typing of letter case, gap in a word or between words, paragraphing).
- Candidates making 25 or more mistakes will be disqualified.
Test of Basic Computer Functions:
- MS-Word (5 Minutes): Underline, Font type, Paragraph numbers, Bold, Font size, Page numbering, Table insertion, Bullets/Numbering, Change case, Paragraph setting.
- MS-PowerPoint (5 Minutes): Text box, Chart, WordArt, Background style, Slide Design, Clipart, Slide Numbering, Picture, Bullet/numbering, Text Alignment.
- MS-Excel (5 Minutes): Merge cell, Text centering, Text alignment, Shape insertion, Font size, Font style, Font color, Bold, Underline, Italics.
Each formatting feature is worth ½ mark. Candidates must secure at least 3 marks in each test (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) to qualify.
